Providence

Bless the kids who make Shiva Shakti Productions work. I just discovered there will be another psy-trance event coming to Autin on April 8th. I still don't know what it is about psy-trance. Ever since being introduced to the experience by Vivek six years ago, it persists in my memory and my experience as one of the most fundamentally cathartic encounters with the transcendent. There are few things I'd rather do than drive out to the middle of nowhere at 2 am and jump up and down frantically for 6 straight hours to this "thing" that can be loosely referred to as music, although it is something much more complicated than that. Maybe that suggests a certain reflection on my character or perhaps I didn't get out enough as a child. Honestly, it really doesn't matter, because when a person loses their sense of self-identity in the interference patterns of brilliantly crafted sound waves the whole notion of explanation becomes irrelevant.

I like how Gil Saab said it

"dance is active meditation. when we dance, we go beyond thought, beyond mind, beyond our own individuality. To become One in the Divine Ecstasy of union with the cosmic spirit. This is the essence of the trance dance experience."
